Help the kids from the Wakami Communities finish school
Wakami works with 10 other communities. Every year we seek to support the development of all of the Wakami communities through education by granting scholarships. We have supported nearly 75 girls and boys in these communities.
In Guatemala there are many obstacles for children to attend schools. One of these obstacles is the distance students have to travel to reach their schools because in many areas transportation is limited and distances are very long.
For girls there are additional cultural obstacles since the machismo culture in many rural Guatemalan families often considers girls' education to be of little importance. Despite these obstacles, Mothers fight every day so that their daughters and sons can finish school.
You can help these children to continue studying.
The Wakami Foundation serves to support the women, children and
families of our Wakami Communities.
These communities are led by women who struggle against a lack of
resources, a lack of opportunities and often against community
prejudices against women working and owning a business. The one
thing that matters most to our Wakami women is the education of their
children. By supporting their education, you are played a critical role in
improving the lives of their families and communities
